The creative woman behind this cute café also dreams up an entirely new blackboard menu each month, built around whatever is fresh and abundant. The result is an astonishing array of beautiful, out-of-the-ordinary ways to start the day. The lemongrass-and-sugar fried bread with juicy fruit, salted honey labne and strawberry sauce is as pretty as a picture. The smoked drumstick from Sommerlad Poultry’s heritage chickens comes with poached eggs, sautéed French shallots, pickled rhubarb, kale crisps and lemongrass-and-pepper béarnaise sauce. You can make the love last by taking home one of Nims’ jams or chutneys from the well-stocked pantry shelves.

My dish was deliciously familiar with the banana chutney as sweet and tangy as I recalled which added contrast to the saltier pesto and ham. I just love grilled ham, especially thick slabs of it like these were. The eggs were poached perfectly with the necessary runny yolks and all of the components worked together in the way that results in dishes like these classics.

The Jam Pantry do amazing breakfast specials but I’m more blown away that THEY MAKE THEIR OWN JAMS. And not music jams. Actual jams that you can spread on toast and dip spoons into. The kind of jam you wish you would find in the bottom of your Christmas stocking.
The Jam Pantry provides some of the best and most exciting breakfast and brunch dishes in Brisbane, and its well worth the visit.
